Design & Craftsmanship
TD Tom Davies is a prestigious handmade eyewear brand offering a bespoke service on all the frames in our collections. The bespoke consultation starts with getting to know the customer – what their lifestyle looks like. A series of precise measurements are taken which are then sent to the TD design studio in London where the eyewear is designed and then submitted to be fabricated in their workshop.
All frames are produced by hand, so every step of the process is meticulously controlled. Each frame takes between 16 and 22 hours of close, detailed work by master craftsmen. This ensures flawless quality and the highest level of craftsmanship. Finally, all Bespoke frames are finished with the name of the customer engraved discreetly on the inside of the temple arm.
History
In 1996, British spectacle designer Tom Davies began working producing products for international brands in Hong Kong. From the very beginning of his career, he identified a need to offer customers properly fitted frames that were exceptionally comfortable, elegant and made with meticulous craftsmanship.
In 2002, Tom began offering a Bespoke service to private clients. By 2008, Tom opened his own workshop and started offering full custom service through his global network of exclusive opticians, both ready-to-wear and custom made-to-order frames. Today, TD Tom Davies is known for the skill of its designs and refined handmade artistry. Due to Tom’s excellence in creations and vision, the company continues to champion extraordinary craftsmanship.
Tom Davies Handcrafted Bespoke Eyewear
A Bespoke design consultation starts with getting to know the customer. What kind of personality are they? Outgoing? Reserved? What do they do professionally? What kind of lifestyle do they lead? Do they have any problems with their current frames? Do the glasses slip down their nose? Are they too tight? Is the bridge fit not quite right? Or do the frames simply not quite enhance the customer’s natural features?
To create a customer’s Bespoke frame, Urban Optiks’ experienced opticians take a series of precision measurements and photographs. These are sent to the TD design studio where the eyewear is designed and then submitted to be made in our workshop. TD Tom Davies produces all of its own frames, so every step of the process is meticulously controlled. This ensures flawless quality and the highest level of craftsmanship.
Finally, all Bespoke frames are finished with the name of the customer engraved discreetly on the inside of the temple arm.
